Avengers 5 Gets New Title/ Robert Downey Jr. Returning To The MCU… But Not As Iron Man!

Avengers 5, previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as been officially retitled as Avengers: Doomsday (2026). Marvel revealed this at San Diego Comic Con. In even more exciting news, Marvel Studios announced that Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday (2026)! This is shocking news, as Downey Jr. played Iron Man in the MCU starting with Iron Man (2008), with his character dying heroically in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

THIS IS AWESOME! Many people are wondering how he is going to return as a completely different character in the same universe, but remember, we are in the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. The most likely explanation is that Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will come from another universe into the mainline MCU. This also seemingly confirms that Marvel is done with Kang The Conqueror after Jonathan Major’s arrest for assault. I’m so excited for this movie!
