We have some interesting DC Studios news today.

Firstly, Variety broke the news yesterday, November 10, 2025, that a television series based on the DC Comics series "V for Vendetta" is in development at HBO Max. According to their sources, Pete Jackson, known for Somewhere Boy (2022 - 2022), is attached to write the series. DC Studios co-CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran, will serve as executive producers. V for Vendetta started out as a comic by writer Alan Moore and artist David Lloyd. It first appeared in the British anthology Warrior in 1982 before DC Comics picked it up and began publishing it in 1988. The story takes place in a dystopian version of Britain ruled by the oppressive Norsefire party. It follows V, a masked anarchist wearing the now-iconic Guy Fawkes mask, as he sets out to bring down the government. Along the way, he crosses paths with Evey Hammond, a young woman he rescues from the secret police, and the two form an unlikely partnership. It is currently unknown if this series will take place in DC Studios' flagship shared universe, the DC Universe (DCU), or if this will be a DC Elseworlds project separate from the main universe.

Secondly, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety reported yesterday that a spinoff of Superman (2025), titled DC Crime, is also in development at HBO Max. DC Crime will reportedly be an in-universe "true crime docuseries" hosted by Jimmy Olsen, and will follow Olsen and his fellow co-workers at the Daily Planet as they investigate super-powered villains. Gorilla Grodd is expected to be the main villain in the first season. Skyler Gisondo is set to reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen, a character he first portrayed earlier this year in Superman (2025), and David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are not expected to appear in the series as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, best known as the creators of American Vandal (2017 - 2018), are set to write, executive produce, and serve as showrunners on the series. Gunn and Safran are expected to executive produce. It will be an installment in the main DC Universe (DCU).

Personal Take

This is really interesting. Did we need either of these? No. Do they sound cool? Yes, yes they do. I am cautiously optimistic about both of these shows.

Both shows are in development, a 2027 release at the earliest!
