The DCU has found their Brainiac. James Gunn, director and writer of Superman (2025) and its upcoming sequel Man of Tomorrow (2027) and co-CEO of DC Studios, announced today on social media that German actor and rapper Lars Eidinger has been cast as the classic Superman villain Brainiac. Here's what Gunn said:
"In our worldwide search for Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU, Lars."

It was reported last month by THEWRAP that Brainiac would be the main villain of Man of Tomorrow (2027). Gunn has repeatedly teased Brainiac online and even recently denied that multiple actors including Dave Bautista, Matt Smith, and Sam Rockwell were frontrunners for the role.
Eidinger is known for the films My Little Sister (2020) and Dying (2024), and the miniseries All the Light We Cannot See (2023).
Man of Tomorrow (2027) is set to be released on July 9, 2027. The film will be a sequel to Superman (2025). The film will follow Superman and Lex Luthor teaming up to fight Brainiac. David Corenswet will star as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The film will be directed and written by James Gunn.
Personal Take
I have honestly never heard of this actor or seen any of the projects he has been in, but I have trust in James Gunn and DC Studios. Very hyped for this movie!
Man of Tomorrow is set to fly into theaters on July 9, 2027!
