The long-rumored Sgt. Rock film has never actually been announced or commented on publicly by DC Studios, but it has been reported by multiple different outlets in the past few months that a film based on the DC character is being developed at DC Studios for their new DCU, with Luca Guadagnino set to direct and Daniel Craig to star. (To add credibility to everything, a recent picture of Luca Guadagnino wearing a DC Studios shirt has been seen on the internet!) Unfortunately, DC Studios seems to have lost its starring actor in the film. Multiple sources, including The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, have reported that Daniel Craig has dropped out of the film. According to Variety, a source close to the project told them that Craig had never actually formally committed, but there were multiple serious talks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the exact reason for his departure is unknown. Some have said that "the actor’s schedule ran into roadblocks with that of his wife, actress Rachel Weisz."  Other sources said that Craig "soured on the role after Queer (2024) failed to perform not only at the box office but also in the awards season race."Queer (2024) was directed by Luca Guadagnino, the apparent director for Sgt. Rock. The Hollywood Reporter also shared that DC Studios is already eyeing Jeremy Allen White to replace Craig.

This is sad if true. I thought that Daniel Craig would have been a perfect Sgt. Rock, although Jeremy Allen White would be a solid replacement. Even though this film is not confirmed, I hope all the rumors are true (I would be shocked if they weren't; there is a crazy amount of credible sources that have been reporting on a Sgt. Rock film directed by Guadagnino for months!). I am excited for this film if it happens!

DC Studios' unconfirmed Sgt. Rock film is apparently set to begin filming in late 2025. It is said that it will be directed by Luca Guadagnino from a script by Justin Kuritzkes.

Sgt. Rock is reportedly shooting for a 2026 theatrical release!
