Principal photography on DC Studios' upcoming horror/thriller film Clayface (2026) started in Liverpool, England on August 31, 2025. Earlier today, November 1, 2025, star Tom Rhys Harries posted on Instagram announcing that filming had wrapped on the film.

Filming lasted for 63 days (2 months and 2 days) and will be in post-production for up to 10 months, until the film’s release on September 11, 2026.
Clayface is set to be released on September 11, 2026. The official synopsis reads,"an ascending actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, the actor turns to a fringe Elizabeth Holmes-style scientist for help. At first, the experiment is a successful but…well, it wouldn’t be a horror movie if the story ended right there, would it?" The film has a reported budget of ~$45 million, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Tom Rhys Harries will star as Matt Hagen/Clayface alongside Naomi Ackie as Dr. Caitlin Bates. The film was directed by James Watkins from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.
Personal Take
This is very cool! Everything I see and hear about this film the more I think it will be fantastic. Can't wait until September 2026. Also, I really appreciate how much time DC Studios is letting their DCU projects have in post-production. Superman (2025) had over a year, Supergirl (2026) is getting over a year, and now Clayface (2026) is too.
Clayface releases in theaters September 11, 2026!
