Marvel Studios Pauses Development On Three Projects

According to an exclusive from Deadline, Marvel Studios has paused development/shelved three projects: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. As per the Deadline article, these projects could still happen at some point; they are just paused for now.

Strange Academy and Terror, Inc. have never been publicly revealed or talked about by Marvel Studios (although scoopers have been talking about Strange Academy for years), but Nova had already been confirmed by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, in 2024 to be a Disney+ show. The show even already had a showrunner attached.

Strange Academy would have been a Disney+ show adapting the comic book series of the same name. The show was expected to focus on Wong, portrayed by Benedict Wong in the MCU, and his leadership of a school for young sorcerers. Echo (2024) writer Amy Rardin was reportedly working on the show.

Terror, Inc. would have been a Disney+ show based on the Marvel character Terror. There is no information on who was involved in the project.

Nova would have been a Disney+ show based on the Marvel characters Richard Rider/Nova and Sam Alexander/Nova. The show was expected to follow the adventures of Richard, Sam, and the Nova Corps. Ed Bernero was supposed to be the head writer and showrunner.

This is good. I know most of these projects would have been post-Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), but Marvel Studios needs to focus on finishing out the Multiverse Saga. They need to focus on the biggies: Spider-Man 4 (2026), Avengers: Doomsday (2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), while also finishing up and perfecting all the other Disney+ shows coming out this year, and the films Thunderbolts* (2025) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025). Once those are all done, Marvel can start focusing on other projects.
