Holy cannoli! According to multiple insiders including MyTimeToShineHello, CanWeGetSomeToast, and Cryptic4KQual, Marvel Studios upcoming Spider-Man 4 might be titled “Spider-Man: King in Black.” This title, if true, pretty much confirms recent rumors that Knull will be the villain and Venom will be in this movie. The “King in Black” is most likely referring to Knull, who is the king of the symbiotes in the Marvel Comics and is set to make his film debut in the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) film Venom: The Last Dance (2024). Recent rumors say that Knull and Venom will cross into the MCU from the SSU at the end of Venom: The Last Dance (2024), and will be a huge part of Spider-Man 4.
If this is true, I have mixed feelings about it. Sure, Spider-Man: King in Black sounds awesome, but Knull and Venom being in this kinda stinks. Normally I’d be hyped, but Marvel Studios promised the fans a street-level Spider-Man film, and they have failed to deliver. I love Tom Hardy as Venom/Eddie Brock but I don’t want Spider-Man to get the Venom suit yet, he should get it in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), like in the comics or in Spider-Man 5 or 6. Knull is a cool villain, and hopefully Andy Serkis plays him well, but he is a giant Avengers-level threat, and is not the right villain for the story they SHOULD be telling. I hope Marvel and Sony actually listen to the fans next time.
