2022’s The Batman was a faithful and exciting adaptation of the Dark Knight, and a sequel is on the way. The upcoming The Batman Part II (2026) is being directed and co-written by Matt Reeves, and is set to release on October 2, 2026. The film has recently received an exciting filming update from Mattson Tomlin, the film’s co-writer, who said in a interview:
“It's shooting next year. We're gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher. It's the sequel to the first one. But also, Matt [Reeves] is like no other. In the five years now that I've been working with him as closely as I have, I've tried to absorb as much as humanly possible from him, and I'm so grateful for the time that I get to spend with him, because he is a true artist who is operating in a world where sometimes art doesn't get to flourish, and he's trying to make something that really matters. So to be able to just be on the ride and be part of that process, it's pretty unbelievable, pretty tremendous. I'm psyched for the movie.”
This is super cool! The Batman (2022) was a great movie and I’m very excited for this sequel! When I learned that this film had been delayed from 2025 to 2026 I became worried, but seems like they just needed more time to make the best film possible. Stay tuned for more updates!
The Batman Part II releases in theaters October 2, 2026!
