Yep, you read the title correctly. The sequel to The Batman (2022) has been delayed yet again from October 2, 2026 to October 1, 2027. It has also lost its title of The Batman Part II, and is now currently untitled.

The reason for the delay is reportedly because the script is not ready yet, according to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn. See exactly what he said below:

“Sure. Yes, it is true. The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script (those of you who follow me here probably know that already). Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write. Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films.”

Well this sucks. The Batman (2022) was really good, and we’ve been waiting for the sequel for too long now. I was 11 years old when The Batman (2022) came out, and I’ll be 16 when the sequel releases. That’s ridiculous for a movie that has been in active development since 2022. Hopefully it doesn’t get delayed again.

The currently untitled The Batman sequel releases in theaters October 1, 2027!
